Nexus is the debut album by saxophonist Ileana Termini, created in collaboration with the Otilka Quartet.

 

Recorded in October 2025 with the label 7 mountain records, the project brings together the distinctive sound of the saxophone and string quartet in four contemporary works that explore different forms of human connection.

The album grew out of close collaboration between composers and performers. Each piece approaches the idea of connection from a different angle, drawing inspiration from fields such as neuroscience, spirituality, and cosmology. The result is a program that moves between introspective moments and expansive sound worlds.

Throughout the album, the saxophone and strings interact in constantly changing ways—sometimes blending into a single texture, sometimes responding to each other in dialogue. This combination creates a sound palette that is both intimate and expressive.

 

Nexus is ultimately about relationships: between people, between ideas, and between our inner lives and the wider universe. The album invites listeners to slow down, listen closely, and reflect on the many ways we are connected to each other and to the world around us.
